One of the books that has really enhanced my prayer life in the past year has been “The Book of Confidence” by Father Thomas De Saint-Laurent. The author basically looks at the gospel accounts of Jesus’ miracles and concludes that the confidence in Jesus that people had when they brought Him their needs was a very important factor in getting their petitions answered. The miracles in the New Testament are dominated by petitioners who had no doubt that Jesus could help them. We should do the same. I’ve read or listened to the audio of this book about 6-8 times within the past year. I bought a case of them and gave them out to anyone who seemed remotely interested. I keep going back to it. Why? Because it has such a powerful ring of truth.

I’ve always wanted a special prayer I could pray when people send me their prayer requests. So after immersing myself in this book, I asked the Catholic ai bot “Truthly” to provide me with a comprehensive list of New Testament miracles. Using Truthly as a writing tool, but manually editing and refining everything myself, here is the prayer I produced. It’s now my go-to prayer for miracles! I hope you find it helpful.

A Prayer of Confidence in the Power of Jesus

“Therefore I tell you, all that you ask for in prayer, believe that you will receive it and it shall be yours.” – Mk 11:24

Lord Jesus, You have promised us that prayers of great confidence would be answered. You have told us to ask for your assistance, to seek your blessing, to knock persistently on your door. Hear this prayer I bromg to You now! I ask. I seek. I knock. And I pray in Your holy name:

Lord, who turned water into wine at Cana,

Lord, who drove the evil spirit from the man in Capernaum,

Lord, who healed the fever of Peter’s mother-in-law,

Hear my prayer now for ______!

Lord, who filled empty nets with a miraculous catch of fish,

Lord, who cleansed the leper with a touch,

Lord, who healed the centurion’s servant from afar

Hear my prayer now for ______!

Lord, who raised the paralytic lowered through the roof,

Lord, who restored a man’s withered hand upon the Sabbath,

Lord, who stopped a funeral procession at Naim to raise a widow’s only son from the dead,

Hear my prayer now for ______!

Lord, who stilled the raging storm at sea,

Lord, who cast the legion of demons into the deep,

Lord, who healed the woman with the hemorrhage in the crowd

Hear my prayer now for ______!

Lord, who raised the daughter of Jairus from the dead,

Lord, who gave sight to two blind men who cried out to You,

Lord, who freed the mute demoniac and loosed his tongue

Hear my prayer now for ______!

Lord, who healed the man at the pool of Bethesda after thirty-eight years,

Lord, who fed five thousand with five loaves and two fish,

Lord, who walked upon the waters of the sea,

Hear my prayer now for ______!

Lord, who opened the ears of the deaf and mute man,

Lord, who healed the daughter of the Syrophoenician woman,

Lord, who gave sight to the blind man at Bethsaida,

Hear my prayer now for ______!

Lord, who fed four thousand in the wilderness,

Lord, who healed the boy possessed by a spirit the disciples could not free,

Lord, who provided the temple tax from the mouth of a fish,

Hear my prayer now for ______!

Lord, who healed a man born blind with clay and the waters of Siloam,

Lord, who healed a woman bent double for eighteen years,

Lord, who cured the man with dropsy on the Sabbath day

Hear my prayer now for ______!

Lord, who cleansed the ten lepers on the road, Lord,

Lord, who gave new sight to blind Bartimaeus at the gate of Jericho,

Lord, who cursed the fig tree and it withered at Your word,

Hear my prayer now for ______!

Lord, who raised Lazarus after four days dead from the sealed tomb,

Lord, who restored the ear of the soldier in the garden of Gethsemane,

Lord, who filled the nets with fish at Tiberias after Your Resurrection,

Hear my prayer now for ______!

And Lord, even these are only a fraction of what you did. The Gospels themselves confess that if every wonder You worked were written down, the world itself could not hold the books.

Your mercy is not exhausted in this present day.

Your power has not grown old.

What You did 2,000 years ago, You can still do today. Here, right now. For the one I bring before You.

So hear me, Lord. You have never turned away a soul that came to You in need.

You touched the untouchable. You heard the cry of the blind man above the noise of the crowd. You wept at Lazarus’s grave, and then You opened it. Nothing in this world, no illness, no darkness, no broken thing, no sealed tomb, has ever had the final word in Your presence. And so I come to You now, with all the miracles of the Gospel as my confidence, and I ask: Lord, do it again! Hear my prayer for ______.

Let Your will, which is always good, always beautiful, always generous, be done once again now and today! Amen.
